For Release: Round 3 Community Copies!
Happy Solstice Time!
Autumn is dying and winter is approaching. As the themes of the season change, so do, perhaps, the content of your games. My writing of “Under the Autumn Strangely” was less an adaptation of “Over the Garden Wall” and more a reflection of the many conversations I had with many different people. But I think about that last episode in particular: the death of autumn; the beginning of winter. That’s what that presence and evil represented. All the fall stuff? That was the good fun: the frogs on the riverboat, the silly animal school, even the delightful weirdos in the inn. I call “Under the Autumn Strangely” a horror game. But, secretly, the only horror in it is what the players decide, consciously or unconsciously, to bring to the table.
I have been told, by those in the know, that RPG people “are horny for art." So be it. What is continually gratifying about creating canonless, GMless games is the unique and stupendous imagery each group manifests. I adore it, truly. And so I’ve looking to capture that uniqueness in a more visual form. More to come, I’m sure…..
Also I've been writing some dialogues with the one true Ryan Kyan, layout artist of UTAS and famed game designer. Check em out: https://knzartifice.substack.com/
See you on the other side!
