After bringing it to Metatopia and Safe Against Fear, I am beyond grateful by the reception it has received. Metatopia was back, in-person, which reduced in size, but 100% still felt like itself. I thought it was about half the normal size, I've spoken to people to estimated a third. I adore playing and designing board games, but I never make it over to that side. The siren call of the funky, experimental TTRPG is too strong.
And Safe Against Fear! What a wonderful time. Taught UTAS three times. Not ran, so much, as my perfered methods is to introduce the 0-card, teach the rules, and let players do 100% it. I want the table to have full ownership of their game and their story and details. It's Death of the Author, sure, but it's more than I want it be fully theirs. I've GMed plenty over the years, and I do love it. But the Cult of the DM, or the idea of players as empty vessals waiting for story to be subjected upon them: no; I refuse.
Game books can be cook books. You write the recipe and sometime gets to read it make their game. If you hand a book to a person, and they have no idea how to cook it *cough Dragon game cough*, then you have a serious problem.
Write and play games that are kind. Listen to people. Make the world as you wish it to be.
Down with the DM. PREP IS DEATH!
